Another rebuild, A Dog’s Breakfast!

“Received via email”

Hi There,

Thought I would send you an email, I was looking at a Voyager V1100 at the Marine Team, Horizon shores last week, Was called “the dog house”, VC122Q. Was curious as we heard it was being repaired there from another guy after we looked at buying a discounted Voyager, now I know why it was discounted!

Anyway, the guy in the workshop was very friendly and told me what was wrong with it, basically the whole thing was splitting in half, all the structural bulkheads & stringers joining to the hull had let go due to incorrectly installed air conditioning units & water leaks threw out.

Not really sure how it could happen but the entrance on the rear of the boat had huge cracks right threw it, the guy there said it was because of dodgy bulkheads when they where installed, something about they where not fiberglassed in properly, so when the aircon unit leaked the timber just soaked up all the water and made it so weak the pontoons where about to split in half.

I took a few photos of the cracks, I was amazed this sort of thing could happen to such a large boat, then the bloke mentioned this site, I read it, and must agree, this stuff is a safety concern.

Also noticed there website is named “Catermaran” HAHA, I wont be buying a boat of a guy who can’t even spell it correctly let alone build them!

Cheers,

Bob Smith
